When the Light Dies

You are the lone survivor of a doomed expedition into the Northwest Passage. With your supplies exhausted, you take up your lantern and venture into the wilderness. But as the night closes in, so do the nightmare creatures who stalk the shadows.  Trapped in an endless loop, you must repel increasingly deadly waves of disturbing abominations while searching for a way out. Utilize a variety of weapons to defeat foes and collect experience to unlock upgrades and uncover forbidden knowledge. Explore your surroundings, search for items, and light bonfires to stave off the cold and increase your chances of survival. Should you perish, chart a course through strange constellations and exchange the grisly currency you have collected to gain permanent bonuses that will aid you in future runs. Can you summon the courage to conquer the darkness and escape your frozen purgatory? Or will you fall prey to the foul forces that threaten to consume your very humanity? Scour the wastes: Search a procedurally generated world for supplies. Consume food to stay healthy, read books to calm your feverish mind, and keep warm to avoid the adverse effects of frostbite. Grow your power: Absorb the souls of the slain to unlock powerful new abilities and weapon upgrades. Pin, reroll, and stack upgrades to develop a variety of character playstyles and strategies. Gain eldritch knowledge: Sacrifice your sanity to unleash cosmic blasts, baleful flames, and unholy healing spells. Form sinister pacts with the ‘Old Ones’ and call upon their aid to turn the tide. The stars will align: Death is not the end. Look to the skies and chart a course through esoteric constellations to gain permanent stat bonuses to increase survivability across 20 difficulty levels.
